PONTYCLUN  3    PHOENIX  3   aet  Pontyclun won 4-3 0n penalties

Pontyclun started the better of the two teams and opened the scoring after five minutes when a good passing move down the right involving Sam Shilton and Jack Bunyan ended with Sean Richards striking low into the corner of the goal. Pontyclun continued to push forward and extended their lead when a Sean Richards corner was flicked on by James morgan and Matthew Jacka was on hand to finish from close range. Phoenix then started to put pressure on the Pontyclun players and force them into making mistakes, they were rewarded for their efforts when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Pontyclun penalty area and Macauley Thomas scored in the top corner making the score 2-1 at half time. Pontyclun regained their two goal lead early on when Sam Shilton played a great through ball for Lewis Harries who neatly lobbed the oncoming keeper. Phoenix continued to work hard and started to dominate, they were awarded a penalty for a hand ball on the goal line which Adam Colbourne finished calmly. Phoenix then equalised when they were awarded another penalty for hand ball which Adam Colbourne finished again. The match then went into extra time and both teams worked hard to win the game but tired legs and good defending by both teams resulted in the game being decided on penalties. A special mention to all the boys who were brave enough to take a penalty from both teams and the spirit in which the game was played.
